Raising a Nigerian Dwarf Goat

Nigerian Dwarf goats are the current trend. They make great pets because of their even disposition, and they’re cute and cuddly. You can adopt an adult Nigerian Dwarf goat for $250 and a buck kid for $150. One mistake in raising a Nigerian Dwarf Goat is only adopting one. For a health and a mentally well-balanced Nigerian Dwarf goat, adopt at least two.

In addition to being great pets, goats milk has health benefits. You haven’t tasted anything until you’ve tasted goat milk fudge. Even goat milk put into soap has noticeable benefits for your skin.

Goats don’t need much space to live on. Up to 12 or 13 Nigerian Dwarf goats can thrive on one acre! Plus, the goats provide a service to you. They will keep the vegetation on your property trimmed - you’ll never have to mow again. They also provide natural fertilizer to your yard. The goats also reduce the number of fleas and ticks in your yard!

To protect them from predators, make a sturdy 6 X 8 foot pen using cattle fencing. To protect them from the wind and rain, a dog house is perfect.

Wood shavings topped with straw makes a comfortable and dry bed. Muck out the bedding; then use it as compost for your garden. One tip is to house the boys separately from the girls. Frequent births is not healthy. (If you are going to breed them, then the births must be 18 months apart.)

Goats need entertainment to be mentally well-balanced. Make sure you provide toys. Goats love picnic tables, boulders, balls, and tires. When you buy toys, make sure they are non-toxic and durable.
